LED display usage instruction

1.Protection instruction (based on the fact that LED products are moisture-sensitive components)

For LED displays, the hazard of moisture has become a major factor affecting the life of the product. Therefore, waterproof and moisture-proof have become the focus of attention in the industry.

In general, both water absorption and moisture absorption are physical changes, but they are different. Water absorption refers to the process in which material absorbs moisture in water and  increases  in  mass;  moisture  absorption  refers  to  the  fact  that  dry  material  absorbs moisture from the air and becomes moist. When the bulb directly contacts the water, the water does not directly enter the inside of the bulb, and the bulb does not get wet immediately. However, as time  passes, the  moisture will slowly  penetrate  into the  interior of the  bulb, causing the bulb to be moist and eventually causing electrochemical corrosion failure. We often pay attention to the problem of water absorption or waterproofing of products, but ignore the phenomenon of moisture absorption of products. The hidden dangers caused by product moisture are greater. Whether it is indoor product or outdoor product, customers need to do protective work in use.

2.    Protection against moisture

2.1    Moisture-proofing methods for outdoor LED display

2. 1. 1       Moisture proofing of fixed outdoor display

The temperature  and  humidity  monitor  should  be  equipped  at  the  installation  site  of the outdoor LED display to monitor the humidity around the screen in time.

After the first rainy day or heavy rain after the installation of the display, it is necessary to check whether there is moisture, water droplets or vapor in the interior.

In the ambient humidity of 10% to 85% RH, display should be powered on at least once a day, and each time the display should work for more than 2 hours.

If the ambient humidity is higher than 90% RH or it is rainy season, the If the ambient humidity is higher than 90% RH or it is rainy season, the environ

2.2 Moisture-proofing methods for indoor LED display

2.2. 1 Moisture proofing of fixed indoor display

In the ambient humidity of 10% to 65% RH, display should be powered on at least once a day, each time ensuring normal operation for more than 4 hours.

If the ambient humidity is higher than 65% RH or it is rainy season, the environment of the screen should be dehumidified and the display should work normally for more than 8 hours per day. Doors and windows should be closed at  night to  prevent the screen from being damaged by nighttime moisture.

2.2.2 Moisture proofing of rental indoor display

After each use, it should be immediately loaded into the flight case for sealed storage. Each flight case shall be provided with a desiccant or hygroscopic bag of not less than 50g which shall be inspected regularly for failure and replaced every 2 months .

In the ambient humidity of 10% to 65% RH, the display should be taken out to work (video playback) for more than 2 hours every half month.

If the ambient humidity exceeds 65% RH or it is rainy season, the display should be taken out to work (video playback) for more than 2 hours per week.

During the use of the display, it should be protected from rain or water. If it is accidentally wetted, the water should be wiped dry and blown dry with a hair dryer. Turn on the display to work for 2 hours after it is placed for 2 hours.

It is strictly forbidden to use the rental indoor display as a rental outdoor display, especially in the open air.

The indoor LED display should avoid the front surface of the display being directly blown by the air conditioner. In an air-conditioned environment, it is necessary to pay attention to the switching  of  the  display.  When  powered  on,  LED  display  should  come  before  the  air conditioner. Please pay special attention to that the air conditioner should come before the display when  powered off, waiting for the  indoor temperature to  rise to the  normal  level. Dehumidify regularly.

In short, whether it is indoors or outdoor

3.    DeHumidification requirements

LED display should be used frequently. If the display is not used for a long time (usually 5-10 days, depending on the environment, climate and other factors), dehumidification should be performed  before  use.  Otherwise  make  a  simple  program  to  gradually  increase  the brightness so as to remove accumulated moisture by slowly warming up. Dehumidification should be done in the following ways:

a) If the screen is not used for more than 3 days, preheating method should be used every time to turn on the display:  preheat for  12  hours with 30%-50% of the  brightness  before adjusting to the normal brightness (80%- 100%), in which moisture should be removed . If it is not preheated for 12 hours, the life of the display might be reduced.

b) If the screen is not used for more than 5-7 days, preheating method should be used every time to turn on the display: preheat for 36 hours with 30%-40% of the brightness before adjusting to the normal brightness (80%- 100%), in which moisture should be removed . If it is not preheated for 36 hours, the life of the display might be reduced.

c) If it is not used as required, causing the display to be damp, resulting in damage to the LED bulb, etc., the users should bear the responsibility themselves.

Dehumidification guideline for the small pitch display:

4.    Maintenance

4.1 Manual soldering with a soldering iron

a) It is recommended to use a soldering iron with a power lower than 20W. The soldering iron temperature must be kept below 360 ºC and the soldering time should not exceed 3S.

b) Do not touch the epoxy part of the LED bulb during soldering.

c) Do not apply external force to the top of the epoxy of the LED bulb during soldering.

d) After soldering, in order to prevent the LED bulb from being abnormal, the subsequent processing can only be carried out when the product is cooled below 40 °C.

4.2 Static electricity and surge

Static  electricity  (ESD)  or  electric  surge  (EOS)  can  damage  SMD.  Wear  electrostatic wristbands, antistatic shoes, and antistatic gloves when touching LED display or modules. All devices, instruments and machines must be properly grounded.

4.3 Precautions for LED cabinet disassembly, maintenance and protection

a)    When  disassembling  the  module,  the  torque  of  the  electric  screwdriver  or  manual screwdriver should not be too large to avoid copper nuts falling off and module damage.

b)   When disassembling or assembling the hub board and the module, pay attention to the direction consistency. If the installation direction is wrong, the module and the hub board will burn out.

c)    Maintenance  personnel  should  receive  professional  training  or  guidance.  To  avoid product damage, do not perform maintenance without professional training or guidance.
